American Wave Machines Names INT Softboards as
Exclusive Supplier
INT Softboards to supply surfboards for SurfStream™
and PerfectSwell™ artificial wave machines
Solana Beach, CA – October 02, 2007 –
American Wave Machines, Inc. (AWM), an innovator in artificial
wave technology, announced today that INT Softboards has been
chosen as the exclusive supplier of surfboards for the SurfStream
standing wave surf pool and PerfectSwell traveling wave pool.
INT Softboards of Carlsbad, Calif. is a leading producer of softboards,
which are lightweight, soft top surfboards. Popular for ocean
surfing and surfing schools, INT softboards have rounded tails
for sharp turns and a waterproof core. INT boards are extremely
buoyant, providing the safety of foam, but with high performance
capabilities for more advanced surfing. INT Softboards are available
with a wide selection of interchangeable fins, from rubberized
and bendable to more rigid styles.
With these performance and safety considerations in mind, AWM
chose to partner with INT and deliver an authentic surfing experience
anywhere. The standing wave created by SurfStream gives surfers
the most sought after surfing experience – “the long
ride.” The skills riders acquire on SurfStream using the
INT boards translate perfectly to ocean and river wave surfing.
That means riders can perfect their surfing skills on SurfStream
in one day and use the same board to ride ocean waves the next.
“Louie Hayward, the founder of INT Softboards, is an innovator
who understands the nuances and variables needed for surfing different
types of waves,” said Bruce McFarland, president of AWM.
“He has provided us with hands on consulting to make sure
the SurfStream experience is both fun and safe for wave riders.”
INT Softboards and AWM are currently developing surfboards specifically
designed for AWM’s newest technology offering, PerfectSwell
surf pools. Designed for surfpark and other surfing venues, PerfectSwell
creates breaking waves with the same profile as ocean surf. PerfectSwell
delivers wave adjustability for the venue operator and high performance
surfing for the rider.
“There is a huge potential for artificial waves in many
types of entertainment venues,” said Louie Hayward, founder
of INT Softboards. “I share AWM’s passion for making
surfing available to more people. SurfStream and PerfectSwell
with INT Softboards will bring a realistic surfing experience
to waterparks, resorts and other sporting events.”
