American Wave Machines Displays New Wave Generators at Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California

PerfectSwell™ and WindSwell™ on view at new “Catch a Wave” exhibition

Solana Beach, CA – May 31, 2007 American Wave Machines Inc., (AWM) an innovator in artificial wave technology, today announced its newest wave generators, the PerfectSwell and WindSwell, are being used for the first time at the Aquarium of the Pacific “Catch a Wave” exhibition in Long Beach, Calif. The year-long exhibition and program, which opened on May 25, 2007, includes displays that explain the science of waves, the history and culture of surfing as well as educational programs about surf related animals and environmental issues.

AWM’s new PerfectSwell and WindSwell wave generators are being used to generate waves in two adjacent 25-foot wave tanks that demonstrate the difference between tsunami waves and wind waves. These wave generators, designed for surf pools at resorts and amusement parks, incorporate the latest technology from AWM to mimic the movement of real ocean waves.

The Aquarium of the Pacific’s “Catch A Wave” program includes new exhibits, classic surfing films, live surf bands, educational programs and events so that people of all ages can experience the history, nature and the culture of waves and surfing from Southern California to the South Pacific. The new exhibit also offers opportunities to meet surfers and scientists at special evening programs. “

We are pleased to help educate the public on the different types of waves through this fun and engaging wave exhibit,” said Bruce McFarland, president of AWM. “Non-surfers and surfers alike will have the opportunity to learn about the difference between the ‘perfect swell’ for surfing and tsunami waves that rapidly displace water on a monumental scale with potentially devastating results.”
